Tignes

The ‘Espace Killy’ ski area, combining Tignes and neighbouring Val d’Isère, ranks highly in any keen skier’s top ten world resorts, and deservedly so. Completely snowsure, with over 300kms of pistes,Tignes provides a huge variety of terrain for skiers and boarders from challenging off-piste powder to leisurely cruising runs. The highlight of the ski area is the Grande Motte glacier with its excellent runs back down to resort. The long runs down to Tignes-les-Brevieres are a popular choice, home to many restaurants, perfect for lunch on the terrace. Beginners are also well catered for with a good selection of wide open nursery slopes.

Tignes-le-Lac is also home to Les Marmottons – one of the best ‘Jardins de Neige’ for children in the French Alps. Both Tignes Le Lac and Le Lavachet offer an ample choice of apres ski with excellent restaurants and various bars.

There are a number of lovely chalet options for families, where kids are picked up each morning for lessons by their instructors or ski rep and dropped back afterwards. There are also a chalet hotel option, with onsite childcare and creche.
